What are Xenon Light Bulbs?

Xenon light bulbs are becoming increasingly popular because of their high intensity, their perfect color rendering indexes (CRI) of 100 and their light that mimics natural sunlight. Like other types of incandescent bulbs, xenon light bulbs have a thin, tungsten filament within their glass enclosure. When electricity conducts through the bulb, the tungsten filament glows white hot, producing light. Xenon, one of the elements of the periodical table, is a gas that is added to this type of light bulb to slow the air oxidation process, which ultimately prolongs the life of the xenon light bulb.

Xenon Gas = Increased Efficiency

The xenon gas does an exceptional job at increasing the air oxidation efficiency. In fact, regular incandescent bulbs are incredibly inefficient, using about 95% of their energy to generate heat. Only about 5% of their energy is used to create light. These fast-burning filaments typically burn out within 1000 hours. A typical xenon's light is rated around 10,000 hours and lasts five times longer than the average halogen lamp. The xenon gas requires less heat to produce light, which increases xenon bulbs' efficiency.
