Returns Policy and How To
90 Day Return Policy
We understand that the lighting or decor you purchased may not ultimately be what you had in mind, and we want to make sure you are happy with the final product. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it within 90 days of delivery.
"As-New" Condition
To be eligible for a return, the item must be in its original unmarked packaging with all parts and product and installation guides. "As-New" condition means that if you were to receive the item, you would accept it as new.
Exceptions
- In the rare event that an item is damaged in transit or arrives defective, we will act quickly to resolve the issue for you. The responsibility to inspect items upon delivery (and prior to scheduling installation) falls on the customer. Proper inspection upon arrival will prevent any delays in the returns process, as well as any unnecessary installation fees.
- If you notice any damage, please contact us immediately so that we can initiate the return or replacement process.
- Capitol Lighting assumes no responsibility for costs incurred for installation and/or assembly.
Return Process
To initiate a return, please have your order number ready when you make your return request. You may submit your request via any of the methods listed below:

For regular-sized items, you will receive an email with our FedEx return shipping label attached.
- You can then drop the item at a convenient FedEx location or call 1-800-GOFEDEX to have it picked up.
- You can track the progress of your return using the FedEx website and the tracking number information.
- Please ensure the item is well packed in its original packaging. Other than the return label, please do not write or mark on the box in any way.
Large items shipping by freight carrier require some coordination, and we will work with you and the freight company in your area to schedule the pick-up.
- It will be your responsibility to be physically present at the time the freight company arrives to retrieve the item.
- The freight company chosen to retrieve your product for return will be at the discretion of 1800Lighting.com.
- Please ensure the item is well packed in its original packaging. Other than the bill of lading, please do not write or mark on the box in any way.
Return Fee
Please note that we will deduct a 10% return fee from your refund to cover shipping and handling costs.
Return Credit
Upon receipt at the return destination, the item's condition will be inspected for "as new" condition, and once confirmed, we will process your credit less the 10% return fee.
- Refund must be completed via the same method in which the item was purchased.
- We are unable to provide a refund on orders placed outside of the last 6 months.
Important Information
To avoid any issues, please do not request a chargeback from your credit card company during the return process. Initiating a chargeback can void your ability to receive any credit at all.
Exceptions and Items Not Eligible for Return
Unfortunately, under certain circumstances, items purchased from 1800lighting.com are not eligible for return. These exceptions and items are as follows:
- Custom, Special Order or Made-to-Order Products: please check individual product pages for confirmation.
- Light bulbs, parts, glass, shades, etc.
- Any item that has been assembled, installed, modified, or used in any way.
- Any item without original packaging.
- Items sold as final sale (e.g. Closeout and Open Box) products.
- Items delivered/received more than 90 days ago.
- Shipping fees are non-refundable.
